Products Description of Cetrimide CAS#8044-71-1
Cetrimide is a mixture of alkyl trimethyl ammonium bromides, mainly tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide with molecular formula C₁₇H₃₈BrN and molecular weight of 336.4 g/mol. It appears as white to creamy-white free-flowing powder with faint characteristic odor. It is freely soluble in water and ethanol, and practically insoluble in ether.
Its melting point ranges from 245 ℃ to 250 ℃ with decomposition upon strong heating. As a cationic quaternary ammonium surfactant, it maintains stable properties in dry environment. It is widely used as broad-spectrum bactericide and disinfectant raw material in pharmaceutical and personal care industries.
